DEAN'S SEMINAR: CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN PUBLIC HEALTH—Health, Politics, and Planned Parenthood.

  • Starts: 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 2, 2017
  • Ends: 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 2, 2017
In 1917, Planned Parenthood was founded on the visionary idea that sexual and reproductive health care could changes people’s lives. 100 years later, in 2017, Planned Parenthood is under attack like never before—the lightening rod in the highly politicized battles over women’s health. Join our conversation with Dr. Jennifer Childs-Roshak, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM); Nikki Goldschein, Public Affairs Coordinator for Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund; Zohar Preminger, PPLM Advocate and Patient; and the Honorable Juana Matias, newly elected State Representative from Lawrence, MA. We will explore the scope of PPLM’s work, reproductive health disparities and the political minefields that characterize policy debates about women’s health, reproductive rights and justice in 2017—both in our state and across the nation. Learn about how PPLM and our state legislators are fighting to assure females across the state and from all income, racial/ethnic, and gender identity groups, access to high quality sexual and reproductive health care. Bring your curiosity and ideas, and come away inspired and informed about how you can get involved and stand with Planned Parenthood and legislators in the fights ahead. This event is co-sponsored by Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts.
