Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to offer a grant writing workshop for SPH faculty members who are interested in submitting a grant proposal through SPH during the Fall of 2017. The workshop is designed so that by the end of the 10 session program, the faculty member will have completed all scientific sections of the proposal.

Grant writing and “grantsmanship” skills will be taught through a combination of lectures, feedback on the faculty member’s proposal, and a mock study section. The workshop will follow NIH grant proposal guidelines (K- or R-series) but non-NIH grant proposals will be eligible and the workshop will be flexible to try to include those formats when possible.

The ten, 2-hour sessions, will be held once a week from May through July, separated by a 4-week break (after session 6).  The sessions will be held on either Tuesday or Thursday afternoons, though the specific day/time will be determined based upon the preferences of workshop participants. Please see the Grant Writing Workshop Schedule.

Faculty who are interested in learning more about this workshop are invited to attend an Information Luncheon on April 13 from 11:30-1 p.m. Please register and complete a short questionnaire here; this will help us to estimate the number of participants and gear the workshop to participants’ grant writing experience. Please contact Bernard Harlow or Lisa Fredman to learn more about the workshop.

Warm regards,

Michael McClean, ScD
