Project 5 attends brown-bag lunch events at MassDEP

At the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Office of Research and Standards (ORS) brown-bag lunch event on November 3rd, Project 5 Leader John Stegeman presented on his work on polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and illustrated how certain non-ortho PCBs can impact the process of certain genes’ expression, and the mechanisms behind this process.  He also discussed the importance of this understanding for risk assessment. Attendees from MassDEP included: Mark Smith, acting director of ORS; Greg Braun; Lydia Thompson; Nancy Bettinger; Diane Manganaro; and Tsedash Zewdie. The event was a success with about 2 hours of conversation and a bi-directional exchange of questions between Dr. Stegeman and the folks at MassDEP ORS (photos below.)
