Dear Colleagues:

Happy and healthy New Year to all; I hope everyone has had an enjoyable holiday season.

We start the year with programming—combining, as always, ideas from our faculty and from leading public health thinkers —with the first of our annual Think. Teach. Do. regional receptions in San Francisco coming up on January 10. Pat Kinney, professor of environmental health, will deliver a talk on climate change titled “Before the Flood: How Public Health Can Help Solve the Climate Crisis.” I hope to see many of our Bay Area alumni and friends of the school there.

We are also excited to launch our Spring 2018 Signature Programs, which include our Public Health Fora, Dean’s Seminar Series, and Dean’s Symposia. We have our first Public Health Forum of 2018 on January 17 on the topic of “Crises, Calamities, and Chaos: How Public Health Can Improve Response to Emerging Threats Wherever They Arise,” presented by former CDC Interim Director Anne Schuchat. As always, signature programs are livestreamed for those unable to attend on campus.

And finally, I am thrilled to announce that SPH will be hosting its second biannual gala in Boston on November 1, 2018. More details will be forthcoming on program, tickets, and sponsorship opportunities, but in the meantime, please save the date!

I hope everyone has a terrific month.

Warmly,

Sandro
