Jack St. Hilaire
BIO AND RESEARCH
Jack St. Hilaire is a post master’s doctoral student in sociology. He received a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Springfield College and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University.
Following his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, Jack has spent 26 years as a police officer in New Hampshire, Florida and Massachusetts. He is currently a sergeant and Accreditation Manager for the Boston University Police Department.
His interests include community sociology, work and occupations, organizations, and social theory. Specifically, his research is focused on modernity, bureaucracy, rationality, and power, and its relation to the institutionalization of community policing, CompStat (crime analysis), and national accreditation as ceremonial police practices of efficiency and legitimacy.
