Ioanna Christodoulaki’s research and teaching interests lie in the intersection between political science, sociology and education. Her research focuses on state-society relations with an emphasis on the politics of European integration, democratic governance, capitalism, political parties and elites, political participation, international political economy, social rights and the welfare state, globalization and the nation state, and social inequalities, public policy, education for democratic citizenship, and urban sociology. Her research draws on a variety of research methods ranging from qualitative interviews to survey research, discourse and public opinion analysis.She received her PhD in Political Sociology from Boston University in 2021. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Classics and Modern Greek from the University of Patras, Greece, a master’s degree in Political Science with a focus on European and public policy, and a master’s degree in Sociology with a focus on social organization and social change, from the University of Crete. She also earned a master’s degree in Education with an emphasis on civic education, democratic engagement, and leadership in organizations, from Boston University School of Education, where she was a research assistant and Glenn fellow.In 2020, she served as the Doctoral Research Fellow for the Boston University Initiative on Cities.
