BIO AND RESEARCH
My research and teaching interests stand at the intersection where identity and agency meet religion, culture, and globalization. My dissertation research explores these themes by investigating the ways in which Christianity and culture shape identity and inform action among international students from the top five non-western countries of origin studying in the United States.

I am also pursuing questions of religion, culture, and identity in my work with Nancy Ammerman and a team of researchers on the “Spiritual Narratives in Everyday Life” project, a Templeton Foundation funded study based at Boston University’s Institute on Culture, Religion, and World Affairs. This project explores how religious and spiritual understandings operate across the many domains of daily lived experience. My work draws from photo elicitation interviews to explore how people construct sacred space at home, work, and play.
