BIO AND RESEARCH
Current
writing and research is on studies of the relation of Alfred Schutz's
thought to Max Weber on the matter of ideal types; comparisons of Shutz
and Harvey Sacks on the notions of type and typification; and assessing
the influence of Alfred Shutz on American sociology. The latter topic
is to be expanded into a broader study of the influence of
phenomenology on American sociologists and sociology.
My interest
is in showing the ways in which phenomelogical perspectives have
influenced and continue to influence sociological theory and
methodology. A related interest is in explicating and analyzing
developments in ethnomethodological sociology and
conversation/interaction analysis.
