Graduate research assistant interested in science education research is needed for a National Science Foundation funded curriculum development project. The research is on the design of methods for teaching thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, and statistical physics to physics undergraduates using computer simulations and the Web.
The research assistant will be expected to assist in the design of the simulations, provide support to faculty using the simulations, and to collect data on the use of the simulations by the students. Other work is also possible depending on the interests of the student.
The prospective research assistant should have a background in upper division and/or graduate level statistical physics, have experience with scientific programming, and plan to pursue a doctorate in science education.
If interested, please contact Professor Harvey Gould, Department of Physics, Clark University (hgould@physics.clarku.edu) or Professor Peter Garik, School of Education, Boston University (garik@bu.edu).
