Check Your Credit Score
Detailed information about your credit history is available on your credit report. For a modest fee, you can also obtain your credit score. Three major credit bureaus record and maintain information about your credit history:
“My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.”
Check your credit history periodically to ensure that there are no errors in their records that could reflect negatively on your credit score. Follow the credit bureau’s instructions for correcting any information you believe is inaccurate.
If you are denied credit you are entitled to a free credit report. Also, everyone is entitled to one free credit report per year from each of the three credit bureaus. Request your free credit report at AnnualCreditReport.com—don’t use sites that require a fee.
Because you are entitled to only one report per year from each of the credit reporting companies, we suggest that every four months you request one free report from one credit bureau, so you don’t exceed the “one free report per year” limit.
