LESA seeks to generate systematic improvements in engineering curricula, pedagogy and learning styles while preparing students to compete in the global economy.

LESA students connect fundamental engineering knowledge, best practices in design, product development and entrepreneurship with contemporary engineering tools. A systems approach to framing and solving problems is developed in basic research and applications in smart lighting. This research integrates sound technical fundamentals, business considerations, and provides an understanding of the social and environmental impacts of this technology.
