Pregnancy Health Interview Study
Slone Epidemiology Center at Boston University

The Slone Epidemiology Center seeks a full-time experienced nurse to work on an on-going epidemiologic study. The primary responsibilities include abstraction of medical records and coding of diagnoses, conducting data quality control, coordinating scheduling of Spanish interpreters, and assisting with tracking and locating of study subjects.

The position is primarily business hours with occasional late evening and weekend hours as necessary. The position requires a flexible, independent person with good interpersonal skills. Pediatric or OB experience and/or familiarity with congenital anomalies are a plus. Candidate should have clear and effective oral and written communication skills, ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and willingness to work in a team environment.  Familiarity with basic research methodology and data collection is preferred.  This is a full-time, office-based position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosis coding and abstracting of study medical records (70%)
  • Assist Project/Research Coordinators with queries/data quality control (10%)
  • Assist with scheduling of Spanish interpreters and tracking/locating of study subjects (as needed) (10%)
  • Miscellaneous tasks; attend monthly meetings; IRB training (10%)

An active RN license is required.

Research Data Analyst

Black Women’s Health Study
Slone Epidemiology Center at Boston University

Duties include the following:

  • Use statistical programs to perform data analysis of epidemiologic data.
  • Check all variables on computer data files.
  • Select and apply appropriate statistical techniques under the direction of senior staff, including standardization of rates, tests for trend, sample size calculations, survival analysis, and multivariate regression analysis (specifically Cox PH and logistic). 
  • SAS programming skills required.

This position requires an MS degree or equivalent.  Excellent organizational and computer skills are also required.
