Research Interests:
Ms. Kelly has a longstanding interest in the epidemiologic study of rare, drug-induced disease. She has been involved in case-control studies investigating the etiology of agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, and thrombocytopenia purpura; Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrosis; and anaphylaxis. A particular interest is in the area of analgesic-induced illness, including gastrointestinal bleeding and end-stage renal disease. Since 1998, Ms. Kelly's research efforts have been focused on a nationwide, random digit dial telephone survey of medication use. Most recently, she has been involved in a study of a possible protective role against renal calculi of a colonic bacterium, oxalobacter formigenes.
