Mediation Skills

Learning Outcome: Participants will be able to identify and implement the steps toward a successful mediation.

Description: When students find themselves in conflict with one another, they may very well turn to anyone they trust for assistance. While your first instinct may be to agree or empathize with the student, you may be doing them a dis-service as they are not learning how to adequately address their issues through the use of appropriate communication techniques.
Students are very adept at communicating through the use of technology (I.M., E-mail, etc.), but they are uncomfortable with face-to-face communication. This session will provide participants with tools that they will be able to implement immediately, as well as an overview of Boston University on-campus resources that may be used as places of referral for students requiring assistance.
