AlcoholEdu® Student Instructions

Welcome to Boston University, 1st-Year Students!

Whether you decide to drink in college or not, AlcoholEdu is worth your time.
The course will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol, prepare you to respond to risky drinking situations, and help you reach your personal and academic goals.

AlcoholEdu for College® is not a “just say no” program. Rather, it is a highly personalized and interactive course designed to provide you with the skills for handling dangerous drinking situations and preventing personal harms like blackouts, drunk driving, and sexual violence.

All 1st-year students are required to complete the course before arriving on campus with a passing score of 70%.

Please Note: Transfer students are excluded from this requirement.

AlcoholEdu Requirements

  • Part 1
    • Length: Approx. 1.5-2.5 hours
    • Deadline: Must be completed before you arrive on campus
    • Passing Score: Must get a 70% or higher on the Final Exam
  • Part 2
    • Length: Approx. 15 min
    • Deadline: October 26, 2015
    • Passing Score: N/A

Getting Started

You will need internet access and audio capabilities. A BU login and Kerberos password is required to log into the AlcoholEdu portal.

Sign in with your BU login and Kerberos password and follow the proceeding prompts. If you are a CGS student, select “Spring 2016 First Year Student” when you register for the course.

Navigating the Course

Take Your Time

You may take the course in multiple sittings. Each section of the course ends with a “Next” button. Don’t log out of the course until you click this button, or you will have to repeat the section of the course the next time you log in.

It’s Confidential

  • The course may include surveys to help personalize your experience and measure students’ alcohol-related attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are confidential; BU only receives information about the student body as a whole and will never see individual students’ answers.

A Note about Part 2: You will receive an email letting you know when it is time to log back into the course to complete Part 2 of AlcoholEdu for College®
