Inpatient/After-Hours Care
No overnight care is provided at Student Health Services. If your medical problem requires inpatient hospitalization, we will arrange admission for you at the Boston Medical Center or at the hospital of your choice. Having close ties with the Boston Medical Center allows us to maintain ongoing contact and communication with your doctors there, and to participate in your care. Inpatient psychiatric care is often provided at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
If you have an emergency problem during off hours, when Student Health Services is closed, please call the Boston University Police Department at 617-353-2121 or 911. We have both Medical and Behavioral Medicine (Mental Health) providers on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic year. If you need after-hours advice on an urgent problem, there is always a medical provider available at 617-353-3575 and a mental health provider at 617-353-3569.
