Charges for Common Services

For your information, we are providing a list of charges for common services and equipment at Student Health Services.

If you have Boston University’s basic insurance plan with Aetna Student Health, most labs and orthopedic equipment are covered under the insurance plan. Covered vaccines and immunizations include TB tests and some vaccines, including Tdap (tetanus), HPV, and flu shots. If you upgraded to the plus plan, all Student Health charges are currently covered, including allergy injections and travel vaccines.

If you elect to waive the University insurance plan with Aetna Student Health, and have your own insurance, our reference lab (Quest) will bill your insurance for any lab fees incurred. If you receive a vaccine, need orthopedic equipment, or are having a minor procedure, Student Health Services will not bill your insurance. At the completion of your visit, you may pay your bill with cash, check, or credit/debit card, or we will assess the charge to your student account. SHS will furnish a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. However, because every insurance carrier has varied policies, we cannot guarantee reimbursement. We advise you to check with your provider prior to coming to Student Health Services.
