Katharine Mooney

Director

Health Promotion & Prevention

I provide vision and leadership to help foster a campus environment that supports student health and wellbeing. I’m committed to evidence-based and student-centered approaches and have been recognized for designing novel and effective public health interventions, including BU’s Condom Fairy program. I oversee an interdisciplinary department whose mission is to enhance students’ physical and mental health through education, community collaboration, and student involvement. My team focuses on marketing & communications, substance use prevention and recovery, mental health promotion, and sexual wellbeing. I currently chair the Communications Subcommittee of BU’s Committee on Sexual Assault & Harassment Prevention, which formed to take action to enhance transparency and build community awareness of BU resources, training opportunities, and processes.

I have a dog named Cooper and enjoy walking him while listening to a great podcast!
