The Shanghai Chinese Language and Culture Program is designed to allow students of the Chinese language the opportunity to study Chinese on an intensive basis while also doing coursework in English on traditional and contemporary Chinese culture. Students register for an eight-credit intensive language course and two four-credit courses to fulfill the requirements of the program.
The Shanghai Internship Program is designed to allow advanced students of the Chinese language the opportunity to study Chinese while also doing coursework in English on traditional and contemporary Chinese culture. Students register for a four or eight-credit language course, one or two four-credit courses, and one four-credit internship to fulfill the requirements of the program.
Students enroll in a four-credit internship placement. Course numbers depend on the field of specialization in which the students complete their internships.

Placements are contingent upon the students' past experiences, professional interest, language skills and relevant academic history, as well as the availability of opportunities in a given semester; flexibility is essential.
The information you provide below will guide the Shanghai internship coordinators toward likely placements for you. Placements will not be finalized until after you have arrived in Shanghai, discussed the range of options with the staff, and had a mutually satisfactory interview with a provider. We urge you to be flexible and to explore various possibilities. While we cannot guarantee your first choice, we will make every effort to place you in your desired field. Bring to Shanghai copies of your resume and any relevant supplementary materials, including slides or a portfolio.
