Patent Policy
Any student involved in University-supported research is required to sign a Patent Policy Agreement with Boston University. The Patent Policy Agreement for the Charles River Campus may be found on the Office of the Provost’s website. The Patent Policy Agreement for the Medical Campus is available in the from the Human Resources website. Responsibility for maintaining the signed Patent Policy Agreement is with the hiring department.
Procedure: Supervisors hiring students (hourly, piecemeal, or weekly-salaried) into Job Codes 55, 56, or 57 research positions must enter their department mail code in the Patent Mail Code field at the point of hire.
