Intellectual Property Policy
Any student involved in University-supported research is required to sign an Intellectual Property Policy (IPP) Agreement with Boston University. The Intellectual Property Policy and Agreement may be found on the Office of the Provost’s website. Responsibility for maintaining the signed Intellectual Property Policy Agreement is with the hiring department.
Procedure: Supervisors hiring students (hourly, piecemeal, or weekly-salaried) into Job Codes 55, 56, or 57 research positions must enter their department mail code in the IPP Mail Code field at the point of hire. This field is located in Section 2 of the Student Employment New Hire/Rehire function on the Business Link. By entering your department mail code, you are confirming that you have a signed Intellectual Property Policy Agreement and it is being housed within your department. You will not be able to hire the student unless this field is completed.
