Student Employee of the Year

Since 1989, the Student Employment Office has run the Student Employee of the Year program to recognize all of the hard working student employees at Boston University.

Each year, all supervisors are given the opportunity to nominate one of their student workers to receive this award. Supervisors are asked to submit a nomination form along with a letter of recommendation commenting on the student’s reliability, initiative, quality of work, leadership skills, and the impact made on his or her department.

Nominations are read by a panel of five judges comprised of a cross-section of staff from around campus. Judges rank the nominations, using the attributes listed above as a guide, and the winners are determined by the judges’ scores. Awards are given to an Undergraduate and a Graduate Student Employee of the Year and two Outstanding Service Awardees, who are honored at a reception in April along with all nominated students and their supervisors.

Finally, each year the nominations of the students chosen as Boston University’s Graduate and Undergraduate Student Employees of the Year are submitted to the Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators (NEASEA) for consideration for state, regional, and national recognition.
