Student Patent Policy Procedure

Students involved in University supported research are required to sign a Patent Policy Agreement. The Student Payroll Office has implemented the following procedure in order to meet this requirement. Supervisors hiring new students (hourly, piecemeal, or monthly paid) into Job Code 55, 56 and 57 research positions must: (1) complete the Patent Mail Code field on the Student Employee Authorization (SEA), and (2) have the Patent Compliance Officer sign the SEA in the Authorized Signatures section. The Student Payroll Office will process only those SEA's with complete patent information. The Patent Policy Agreement should be maintained within the hiring department.
