Work-Study Checklist

    1. Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) – to be completed with a BU staff member.This form is required by law.  If you did not complete this form with Work-Study at Orientation, you will need to do so before beginning work at BU.  Please bring one of the following forms of  identification or sets of identification to complete the I-9:Option 1: U.S. Passport (cannot be expired)

      Option 2: Picture ID and Social Security Card

      Option 3: Picture ID and Birth Certificate

      You must provide original identification; by law copies are not accepted.

    2. W-4 Tax FormWork-Study earnings are taxable.  If you did not submit this form to Work-Study at Orientation, submit this form to your employer on the first day of work.
    3. Direct Deposit Authorization:Complete this on the Student Link Work tab after you receive your first pay check. You may have your paycheck deposited into a checking or savings account at the bank of your choice, either locally or at home.


If you choose not to participate in the job fair at Orientation:

      1. Begin your job search in August by using the Work-Study Job Listings available on the Student Link Work Tab.
      2. Call or e-mail the contacts of the jobs that interest you.  To assist you in contacting your employer, review Job Tips
      3. Get hired by the October 23, 2015 deadline.

If you do not have a job by October 23, your award will be cancelled.

To avoid your award being cancelled, defer your award to the spring semester by emailing your deferral request to by October 23.
