Student Employment Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to work on campus and have access to the Student Job Service listings you must:
| U.S. Citizens and Eligible Non-Citizens | International Students |
| Be enrolled full- or part-time in a degree-seeking graduate or undergraduate program. or Be in the first semester of an approved Leave of Absence (LOA) from the University. |
Be registered full-time (or certified as full-time by your school or college) for each semester, unless it is your last semester.
and Have authorization from the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) to gain access to on-campus job listings and to work on campus. |
Status as a student employee ends upon graduation or withdrawal from the University.
Summer Jobs
Current students are eligible to work on campus during the summer if:

| Enrolled in summer classes or identified on the Registrar’s file as eligible to register for the upcoming fall semester (i.e., incoming freshmen). | Enrolled for the summer or enrolled at least part-time for the fall semester.If you will be graduating in September, consult with ISSO regarding full-time enrollment requirements for summer.* |
*You will need to be enrolled for both SUM1 and SUM2, or just SUM2, if you wish to work the entire summer. If you are enrolled only for SUM1, you may work only during SUM1.
Incoming freshmen are eligible to access the Student Job Service listings and work on campus the summer prior to freshmen year, as long as they have paid their enrollment deposit and have received a Boston University ID number.
After Graduation
Graduates cannot work on campus after graduation, but U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens are eligible to use the Student Job Service as follows:
- May graduates: through the summer
- September graduates: through the FALL semester
- January graduates: through the SPRING semester
Ineligibility
The following are ineligible to work on campus or have access to the Student Job Service listings:
- Non-degree-seeking students
- Withdrawn students
- University staff (even if taking classes)
- International students on a LOA
- U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens beyond the first semester of a LOA
