Student Employment Eligibility Criteria:

The following is the criteria required for an individual to be paid as a student employee of Boston University working ON-CAMPUS:

  1. A student must be a degree seeking undergraduate or graduate candidate, enrolled in either a full or part time program.
  2. A current student is eligible to work during the summer if he/she is enrolled in summer classes or is identified on the Registrar’s file as eligible to register for the upcoming fall semester. (International students must be enrolled for the summer or enrolled full time for the Fall Semester.)
  3. A student on an approved Leave of Absence (LOA) is eligible to be paid as a student employee throughout the first semester of his/her LOA.
  4. Incoming freshmen are eligible to work the summer prior to their freshmen year, as long as they are in a paid deposit status and have received a B.U.I.D. number.
  5. An international student must obtain authorization from the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) in order to work ON CAMPUS..
  6. A student meeting the above criteria will be considered a student employee until his/her graduation or upon his/her withdrawal from school.

The following is the criteria required for an individual to access the Student Job Service listings as a student of Boston University.

  1. A student must be a degree seeking undergraduate or graduate candidate, enrolled in either a full or part time program.
  2. A current student is eligible to work during the summer if he/she is enrolled in summer classes or is identified on the Registrar’s file as eligible to register for the upcoming fall semester. (International students must be enrolled for the summer or enrolled full time for the Fall Semester.)
  3. A student on an approved Leave of Absence (LOA) may have access to the services throughout the first semester of his/her LOA.
  4. Incoming freshmen are eligible to access the services the summer prior to their freshmen year, as long as they are in a paid deposit status and have received a B.U.I.D. number.
  5. a. An international student must obtain authorization from the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) in order to gain access to on-campus job listings. On Campus job listings will be made available to international students by the Student Job Service Manager.
b. International students must have work authorization through the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) in order to work off-campus.
  6. May graduates are eligible to use the services throughout the summer.
  7. September graduates are eligible to use the services through the FALL semester.
  8. January graduates are eligible to use the service through the SPRING semester.

INELIGIBILITY

Individuals in the following statuses are ineligible to work on-campus or having access to the Student Job Service listings:

  • Non-degree students
  • Withdrawn students
  • University staff (even if taking classes)
  • Students beyond the first semester of an LOA.
  • Graduated (undergraduate and graduate) students cannot work on-campus after graduation date.
  • Graduated (undergraduate and graduate) students cannot access the Student Job Service listings beyond the following semesters:
  •      May graduates are eligible to use the services      throughout the summer.
         September graduates are eligible to use the      services through the FALL semester.
         January graduates are eligible to use the service      through the SPRING semester.
  • International Students may not access off-campus job listings through the Student Job Service without an off-campus work authorization card from the USCIS.
