Dear TFA Greater Boston Corps Members,
Welcome to Boston and welcome to BU! We are excited to continue our work with the BU-TFA partnership, with the opportunity to train more amazing teachers who will have an even larger impact on the students and schools in the Greater Boston Region.
This is a critical time to engage in the field of education. It has been noted that the student drop-out rate has never been lower in the United States, yet the cost of dropping out has never been higher. In a recent talk with the faculty of the School, we discussed current challenges to our profession. Some of the greatest needs involve equity and diversity. It is clear that, if we are to narrow the achievement gaps among socioeconomic groups, we need to help all students develop the skills they need to acquire good jobs. To do so, we need to develop educational practices that are consistently engaging and prepare students to enter a world filled with technology and social change.
The Boston University School of Education has a long history of excellence in teaching and preparing students to be effective as classroom teachers, administrators, policy experts, and academics.
We are thrilled to have you join our community and we are confident that your education with us will prepare you for an amazing future, whether in the classroom, the boardroom, or the courtroom.
