Welcome to the School of Education! We’re excited that you’ve made the decision to transfer to SED and look forward to having you as a member of our community. As an incoming transfer student, you will be paired with a Transfer Mentor, a current upperclassmen who has previously transferred to SED and is available as a resource for you. For information about transfer credits, orientation, or transitioning to SED, please contact Undergraduate Student Services at email@example.com or 617-353-3177. For additional information about housing, student life, and living in Boston check out BU Admissions.
On the BU Applicant Link, go to the “Next Steps” section to sibmit your enrollment deposit. You must make your $650 deposit in order to join the Boston University School of Education!
After paying your deposit, you will receive an email with instructions on creating your BU username and Kerberos password. This username will be your BU email address and your login for the Student Link at Boston University. Once you create your username, you will have the same username for your entire time at BU. (Important: Remember to select a username that you will want professors, staff, and future employers to see as your email!)
The School of Education hosts a University Orientation session specially for transfer students. At Orientation, you will register for classes, learn important information about BU, and meet some of your future classmates! Once you make your deposit, you can register for orientation. The School of Education’s Transfer Student Orientation session will be:
July 27, 2016 – July 29, 2016
You can sign-up for the optional First-Year Student Outreach Project (FYSOP) on the BU Community Service Center website. FYSOP offers incoming Boston University students a unique opportunity to get settled in their new community by performing a week of service before classes begin. Volunteers participate in a program orientation, a full day of education, and three full days of direct service.
After paying your deposit, you should complete your housing interests survey oon the Applicant Link . This short survey will ask you to rank your preferences for where you would like to live on campus. Visit the BU Housing website to learn more about our residences and living on campus.
To receive AP credit, students must submit official examination scores via the College Board. Please use BU’s College Entrance Examination Board code, 3087.
You can also view the International Baccalaureate Course Equivalence Guide.
If you have taken any classes through other colleges or universities, please have an official transcript and supporting course syllabi emailed directly to the Office of the University Registrar. Please include your name and date of birth at the top of each page.
Although you will register for classes at Orientation, you may start planning your fall classes now. On the Programs of Study Page, you will find a list of suggested classes for each major. Then, using your BU username and Kerberos password, you can start creating your schedule on the Student Link. On the Student Link, first click on the “Academics” tab; then, click on “Registration” and you will be prompted to enter your username and password. Under “Fall 2016,” click on “Reg Options” and then click on “Plan,” followed by “Add.” Now, you can search for classes by the class numbers on the Admitted Students site and save classes to your planner for future use. (Note: Saving a class to your planner does not register you for the class or reserve a seat.)
The Transitional Mentor (TM) Program is designed to acclimate you to Boston University (BU) and School of Education (SED)! You will be paired with an upperclassman who has previously transferred to BU and will be there to answer questions, help you settle into life at BU, and serve as a resource for anything you might need.
