The Higher Education Administration Specialization is designed to help you advance your career in some phase of higher education administration, such as student life, financial aid, admissions and career advisement, or development and alumni relations. The emphasis is on giving our students a broad foundation in education at all levels as well as insight into the background, prospects, and social and personal functions of higher education.
With five required core courses and three electives, the Higher Education Administration master’s program provides an academic grounding in higher education administration, legal issues, governance, and history. Most of our students continue working and take master’s classes in the evenings and summers. Part-time study usually takes four semesters. As a student in the Higher Education Administration Program, you may chose electives from other Schools within Boston University, including management and communications.
