Commencement Event Information
Commencement Day is Friday, May 15, 2009
Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! We hope that you, your family, and friends will enjoy the many events planned by the School of Education and Boston University to celebrate your accomplishments. The University will send out a commencement packet to families of all tentative graduating seniors. For your convenience, information from the packet will be listed as it becomes available.

Academic Commencement and SED Convocation Events
No tickets are required for the Nickerson Field Commencement. Seating is on first come, first served basis.

Tickets are required for the SED Convocation, but not limited.

Tentative graduates will receive a mailing with information about picking up tickets in April. There is no charge for tickets.

Commencement Ceremony
Boston University has Commencement and Convocation ceremonies in May only. If you are scheduled to graduate in either September or January, you will be invited to participate in the May ceremonies following your date of graduation. Undergraduate and master's students are allowed to "walk" in May if they have 8 or fewer credits to complete, will complete them during Summer Session, and have filed a petition requesting permission to walk with the SED Student Records Office.

Apply to Graduate
Print, complete and return this form with a copy of your transcript and current class schedule printed from the Link to the Graduation and Licensure Office, SED Room 113, Two Silber Way, Boston, MA 02215. Graduation applications are also available outside of SED Room 113.

If it becomes necessary to change your graduation date after you have made application, please call the Graduation and Licensure Office at 617-353-3239.

Diplomas
Diplomas will be mailed to September and January graduates and those not participating in the May Diploma Convocation.

All tentative graduates must go to the Student Link, click on Academics, then Graduation and Diploma, and update/confirm your name, both spelling and format. Once you have done this, your name will be printed on your diploma exactly as you have entered it on-line. You must also update your diploma mailing address at this link.

E-mail
Tentative graduates are advised to keep their e-mail accounts under quota and functioning because they will receive informational e-mails from this office and others University-wide such as the University Registrar and Student Accounts. It is also recommended students set up a Graduation folder in their in-boxes and store all pertinent graduation-related e-mails there for easy reference as the semester moves along.

Disability Accommodation
Persons requesting any disability accommodation—guest seating, disability parking, wheelchair requests, and interpreter services—please complete the University on-line Accommodation Request Form.
