Commencement Ceremony
The Boston University has Commencement and Convocation Ceremonies in May only. If you are scheduled to graduate in either September or January you will be invited to participate in the May ceremonies following your date of graduation. Undergraduate students are allowed to “walk” in May if they have 8 or fewer credits to complete, will complete them during Summer Session, and have filed a petition requesting permission to “walk” with the SED Student Records Office.

Diplomas
Diplomas will be mailed to September and January graduates and those not participating in the May Diploma Convocation.

All tentative graduates should go to the Student Link, click on Academics, then Graduation and Diploma, and update/confirm your name, both spelling and format. Once you have done this, your name will be printed on your diploma exactly as you have entered it on-line. You should also update your diploma mailing address at this link.

E-mail
Tentative graduates are advised to keep their e-mail accounts under quota and functioning because they will receive quite a few informational e-mails from this office and others University-wide such as the University Registrar and Student Accounts. It is also recommended students set up a “Graduation” folder in their in-box and store all pertinent graduation related e-mails there for easy reference as the semester moves along.
