SED Alumni Want To Buy YOU Textbooks and School Supplies
through the Joan Dee and Boyd Dewey Book Awards Program

 

Program:

  • The awards are $400 ($200 for part-time students) stipends redeemable at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore at Boston University, to be used to purchase textbooks and school supplies, including software.
  • The awards will be granted to twenty students
  • The awards will be available for recipients prior to the spring semester.

 

Eligibility:

  • Students must be enrolled at the School of Education.
  • Students may be at the undergraduate (sophomore, junior, or senior) or the graduate levels.
  • The undergraduate recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and the graduate level applicants must have a GPA of 3.5.
  • The recipients must demonstrate a commitment to the University and the School.
  • The recipients must complete and submit the application, including a short written piece, and a faculty endorsement.
  • Students are limited to two consecutive awards.
 
Book buying

Process:

  • Completed applications must be submitted directly to the Office of Student Services by Thursday, December 4, 2008.
  • The Dean will select and announce the award recipients by e-mail and mail on Friday, December 19, 2008.
  • The awards will be available for recipients prior to the beginning of spring semester in the amount of $400 each ($200 for part-time students).
  • If a student does not use their allotted funds, access to the money will be frozen upon graduation.
