Applying

We encourage all Master’s, CAGS, and EdD applicants to use the online application system which can be accessed at: http://www.bu.edu/sed/admissions/graduate-students/apply/.

If, due to irresolvable circumstances, you are unable to use the online system, you may email sedgrad@bu.edu to request a paper application.

No. We do not offer conditional acceptance under any circumstances.

Admission to Boston University School of Education is selective. The exact admission rates vary by degree level and program, and also fluctuate from year to year. We suggest that you focus on making your application as strong as possible.

If you are currently a student, please report your GPA up through the prior semester. You are asked to provide your GPA on the scale that your institution uses (e.g., 4.0, 4.3, 5.0, 15. 100, etc.). If your institution does not calculate GPA, please leave the GPA and GPA scale fields blank on your application.

To request an application fee waiver, please email sedgrad@bu.edu.  Please note, free waivers are rarely granted.

If you are a Boston University employee, current TFA Boston corps member, or qualified City Year affiliate, please contact the Graduate Admissions Office at sedgrad@bu.edu prior to submitting your application to request a fee waiver.  Do not submit your application until you have contacted the Graduate Admissions Office.

If you have entered the names and contact information of your referees and if the other portions of your application are complete, then you may submit your online application.

First, please make sure you have submitted all the required application components. You will receive an email 5-10 business days after submitting your online application, which will let you know if your application is complete or if required information is missing.

Applicants are discouraged from applying to multiple programs for the same semester.

Applicants applying to multiple programs should visit our Policies page for the necessary procedures.

Dual degree applicants must apply to and be accepted by each School separately. Typically, applicants apply and enroll at one School and then apply to the other School after completing one semester. Applicants may also apply to both schools simultaneously. For more information please visit our Policies page.
