Applicants are encouraged to apply by the recommended deadlines* listed below.
|Spring 2017||September 15, 2016: All applicants|
|Summer/Fall 2017||December 15, 2016: Doctoral applicants|
|Summer/Fall 2017||January 10, 2017: Master’s and CAGS applicants|
*Applicants are encouraged to apply by the recommended deadline as there are several advantages to doing so. These advantages include: receipt of an admissions decision on an ideal timeline (i.e. decision in spring for fall applicants), priority consideration for merit scholarships, and sufficient visa processing time for international students.
Recommended vs. Hard Deadlines: Most programs do operate under a rolling admissions policy and applications are accepted beyond the recommended deadlines. Some programs, such as Counseling and Education of the Deaf, review applications received after the deadlines listed above on a space available basis only.
University Breaks: Admissions decisions are made by faculty members who may not be on campus during university breaks. Consequently, we are unable to guarantee that application review will take place in a timely manner during winter break (approximately mid-December to mid-January) and summer (approximately mid-May to early September). Please plan your application time accordingly.
Decision Timeline: Typically, admissions decisions are released approximately eight weeks after an application is complete. As stated above, the review process may take longer during the summer and winter breaks. Please note, the Admissions Committee only reviews complete applications.
Application Cutoff Dates: Although our School accepts applications throughout the year on a rolling basis, we do close the application for any given semester approximately six weeks before classes are scheduled to begin. For 2017, these dates will be approximately December 1, 2016 (Spring application) and July 15, 2017 (Fall application). These dates are well beyond the recommended deadline and still may not allow sufficient processing time. Applicants are always encouraged to meet the recommended deadlines above.
