Dean Coleman Travels to China, Indonesia, and Washington, DC

COLEMANNDean Hardin L.K. Coleman traveled throughout China, Indonesia, and Washington, DC from March 16th to March 24th, 2014. Dean Coleman met with numerous professionals to discuss the development of education across the globe.

On March 16th, 2014, Dean Coleman met with the Dean Zhao, and his staff, at Dongbei Univesity of Finance and Economics in Dalian China. Coleman and Zhao discussed the growth of private education in China and the need to prepare a new generation of educational leaders to develop effective institutions.

On March 18th, 2014, Dean Coleman met with President Zhang of Shanghai Normal University to build collaborations around the improvement of urban education. Coleman and Zhang will explore potential research collaborations between faculty of Boston University School of Education and Shanghai Normal University who are interested in the development, replication, and scaling of effective educational practices across national boundaries.

On March 20th, 2014, Dean Coleman gave a talk on the Role of Character and Civic Education in Academic Accomplishment to the Indonesian Teacher’s Association.

On March 23rd and 24th, 2014, Dean Coleman participated in the legislation meetings arranged by the Council of Great City Schools in Washington, DC.
