Professor White Hosts Ukrainian Youth Leadership Specialists

On December 13th, 2012, Professor Charles White will host five youth leadership specialists from Ukraine, who will be visiting Projects in Civic Engagement at the Boston University School of Education to examine youth engagement through education and civic participation.

The Ukrainian Youth Leadership Specialists’ trip to the United States of America is sponsored by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, with local arrangements provided by WorldBoston. During their U.S. visit, the group will meet with community organizations known for model programs that promote youth leadership in the context of schools, colleges, associations and clubs, arts programs, and faith-based initiatives. In particular, they aim to better understand how social-media tools are used to develop networks for youth communication and engagement.

While at the School of Education, the Ukrainian delegation will meet with Margie Dillenburg (SED doctoral student and former COO of Invisible Children, producers of KONY2012), Brandon Wood (student activist involved in BUOccupiesBoston), Gillian Pressman (Boston regional coordinator for Generation Citizen), and Professor Charles White (director of Projects in Civic Engagement).

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students at the School of Education benefit from the community feel of a small school along with the resources of a large university. Our students are in the field in both urban and suburban schools as early as their first year at SED.

Graduate Students

Talented graduate students from around the world prepare to become teachers, counselors, administrators, and more in as little as one year at the School of Education. Our students engage in diverse aspects of education both in the classroom and the field.
