Developmental Biology of the Sea Urchin XX

April 27- May 1, 2011

Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA

Important Dates:

Registration deadline: April 1, 2011

Abstract submission deadline: March 1, 2011

Final Program posted: April 15, 2011

We are anticipating a number of changes for this year's meeting. In response to popular demand, we are planning to include scheduled free time each day for conversations and relaxing, with coffee available. In addition or in conjunction, we are planning to have a formal poster session each day, and a poster contest for the meeting, with winners and prizes announced at the banquet. To make these changes tenable, we must reduce the total number of oral presentations. Thus, we will select a limited number of speakers from the submitted abstracts to complete the meeting program, and ask the remaining authors to present posters.

We hereby announce the design contest winner: congratulations to Yi-Jyun Luo! We would also like to thank all the other entrants for their fabulous submissions.

Yi-Juan, of the Su lab in Taiwan, explains this design:

  1. A pluteus larva at vestibular invagination stage with left-right asymmetry, where vestibule and hydrocoel are labeled with purple color.

  2. A circle with purple to black transformation representing the metamorphosis from a left-right asymmetrical larva to a pentaradial symmetrical adult.

  3. The size of larva is larger than adult reflecting that our developmental knowledge about larva is relatively greater than adult.

We welcome your comments and suggestions regarding this upcoming landmark meeting!
