Thomas Moore, Pioneer of the "Dash Net" to Deliver Annual Dudley Allen Sargent Lecture at BU Sargent College

(Boston) – Thomas J. Moore, M.D., renowned expert in the area of nutrition and blood pressure and pioneer of the acclaimed “DASH Diet” will discuss “Changing the Way America Eats” at the annual Dudley Allen Sargent Lecture at Boston University (BU) Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences on October 19.

Moore is the author of The DASH Diet for Hypertension: Lower your Blood Pressure in 14 Days-Without Drugs (The Free Press, 2001), the diet that is now recommended by United States Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Human Services as the way all Americans should eat. He was the chairman of the steering committee of the DASH Trial, an NIH-funded, multi-center trial of nutritional approaches to prevent and treat hypertension that resulted in this book.

He joined Boston University in 2001 and is currently the chairman ad interim for the Department of Medicine at BU School of Medicine and physician-in-chief at Boston Medical Center .

Moore is the seventh speaker to deliver the annual Dudley Allen Sargent Distinguished Lecture. This lecture Series began in 1999 to celebrate the incorporation of Sargent College into Boston University.

The Dudley Allen Sargent Lecture will take place on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. at BU Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, 635 Commonwealth Avenue , Boston , MA in Room 101. All attendees are invited to a reception following the lecture.
