Join us as Karen A. Daley, President of the American Nurses Association, shares her journey from clinical nurse to patient and advocate. Daley will discuss the importance of caring for patients holistically from the perspective of caregiver and health care consumer. She calls on practitioners to embrace a broad view of health, encompassing the psycho-social-economic dimensions of well-being and addressing the limitations of the current health care system. Serving as a staff nurse at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital for more than 26 years, Daley has received numerous honors for her outstanding leadership and excellence in practice. She was recognized as a “living nursing legend” by the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses and was named a fellow by the American Academy of Nursing in recognition of her advocacy work. All attendees are invited to a reception following the lecture in the Sargent College Setterberg Lounge.
