How to setup the MSC color laserjet
For Windows XP…
[Note: if you are on your laptop, you will need to connect via VPN first.]
1) Open the Start Menu, and choose Printers and Faxes
2) Click on Add a Printer
3) At the Welcome screen, just hit the Next button
4) At the Local or Network Printer screen, select Network Printer and hit the Next button
5) At the Locate Printer screen, find the box that begins “Connect to this printer …” and type the following:
(Please note that you must use backslashes (\) instead of the usual forward slashes in the following instructions.)
\\sar-pqn\sar-color
6) Now hit the Next button
7) At the Default Printer screen, choose either No, since you probably don’t want to make this your default printer, then click Next
8) At the Completing screen, click the Finish button
9) You have finished setting up the MSC color laserjet. You may close the Printers and Faxes folder
…for Windows 7…

1) Open the Start Menu and choose “Devices and Printers”
2) Click “Add a printer”
3) Click “Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer”
4) Click “The printer that I want wasn’t listed”
5) Click “Select a shared printer by name” and in the box below that type the following: (Please note that you must use backslashes (\) instead of the usual forward slashes).
For sar-color type: \\sar-pqn\sar-color
6) Click Next
7) At the “You’ve successfully added…” page just click Next
8) At the next page uncheck the “set as default printer”. Click Finish

1. For all Operating Systems except Snow Leopard (10.6), do this: download the correct driver for your OS at the Hp Laserjet CP 4005dn. You can find it on HP’s website. Then install it by double clicking on the file you downloaded and following the directions.
2. Now that the driver is on your computer (Snow Leopard should already have it), you just need to add the printer.
3. Open System Preferences->Printers
4. Click on the plus sign to [+] to add a new printer.
5. Click IP on the top tab and then choose Line Printer Daemon for the type of connection
6. Type in your appropriate IP address: 128.197.121.77
7. Iin the “Print Using” Box, click on the drop down arrow and choose “Select Printer Software”. Search for 4005. Choose the correct result and hit OK
8. Change “Name” to something useful to you, such as sar-color
9. Click Add.
