Faculty, staff and students may borrow the following equipment from the Makechnie Study Center free of charge:

  • Laptops (PCs and one Mac) Students must have professor approval
  • Portable LCD projectors Students must have professor’s approval
  • Remote Presenter with laser pointer (to navigate a Power Point presentation away from your computer)
  • Digital and analog camcorders/tripods
  • Headphones with microphones attached
  • Computer projection adaptors for PCs and Macs
  • Classroom Performance System (32 Clickers)
  • Microcassette and regular-size tape recorders
  • Microphones
  • Dedicated wireless microphones for Rm. 101
  • Easels
  • Digital Camera
  • CD player
  • TV/VCR combos
  • Tripods

To borrow equipment, please fill out a Reserve Form. We’ll send you an e-mail confirming receipt.

If you need a laptop or LCD projector overnight, please also download and print the Laptop/LCD Sign Out Form. Faculty members must have their chairman sign this form and return it to the Makechnie Study Center. Students must present their BU ID cards when picking up equipment.

Faculty, staff and students may use the following equipment inside the MSC:

  • A photocopier for student use. It accepts coins, dollar bills and Convenience Points.
  • A VHS-to-DVD dubbing station to make copies of your videos. (Only non-copyrighted videos are allowed unless you have the publisher’s permission). The dubbing room must be reserved by calling the MSC front desk at 617-353-4201. All other equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • A DVD-to-DVD dubbing station to make copies of your DVDs
  • DVD/VCRs and headphones to watch your videos
  • 32 computers for student use
  • Paper cutters, electric 3-hole punch, high capacity staplers.

Color Printing: The MSC can print color documents for you at $.50/page for plain paper.
Scanning: The MSC can scan images/documents to create PDF or Jpeg files.
Photography: The MSC’s digital cameras are available for loan, or arrangements can be made to request staff photographers.
Editing Services: The MSC can edit digital audio and video to create DVD’s, web-based video files, and audio files. Post production jobs are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
