Welcome

Welcome to the Communication and Neurodevelopment Lab (CaNDL) at Boston University

We are a research lab dedicated to studying speech, language, and reading development in an effort to promote positive outcomes for all children, especially those susceptible to communication difficulties. Our ultimate aim is to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families.

We work with families and children from infancy through school age to study relationships between the brain and speech, language, and reading abilities, as well as environmental experience (including shared book reading practices at home, and musical experiences).

We conduct child-friendly research involving standardized measures, listening activities, and brain measures (including MRI) with an educational and child-centered approach to further our understanding of communication and brain development.

Our lab is proudly part of the Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Boston University. If you’re interested in participating in one of our studies, joining the lab, or if you would like more information, please contact us at zuklab@bu.edu.
