For People with Parkinson's Disease
Comprehensive and Individualized Physical Therapy Services for the Management of Parkinson's Disease
Whether you are newly diagnosed or have had Parkinson's disease for a number of years, our physical therapists can help you manage your Parkinson's disease over your lifetime. First, we conduct a comprehensive initial examination using assessment tools specifically designed to measure the abilities of people with Parkinson's disease. Based on the results of our examination, we can provide anindividualized treatment program: This program may include:
- A variety of exercises and strategies to help you stay active, optimize your day to day function and improve quality of life.
- Stretching, strengthening and cardiovascular fitness training to help you decrease stiffness, increase flexibility, improve strength and increase fitness and energy level.
- Strategies to help you manage freezing, difficulty with turning, moving in bed, rising from a chair, walking or falling.
- A plan for follow-up visits once you have completed your individual sessions. This allows us to assess your progress and to help meet your needs over time.
