Equipment

Faculty, staff and students may borrow the following wide range of equipment from the MRC, free of charge.

  • Laptops (PC only)
  • Video adapters for Mac laptops
  • Classroom Performance System (Clickers)
  • Microcassette and regular size Tape Recorders

  • Overhead projectors (for transparencies)
  • Portable LCD projectors
  • Portable Zip Drives (100 MB and 250 MB)
  • Slide Projectors
  • TV/VCR combos
  • Laserpointers
  • Remote Presenters (to control a PowerPoint presentation from a distance)

To reserve equipment, please fill out this form. An email will be sent to you to confirm its receipt. If a laptop or LCD projector is needed overnight, please also download this overnight usage form (PDF document, Adobe Acrobat Reader required), have your chairman sign it and bring it to the MRC with your ID card when you come to pick up your equipment.

Faculty, staff and students may use the following equipment in the MRC:

  • A photocopier is available for student use. (This photocopier runs on the Convenience Points system. For more information about how to add Convenience Points to your BU ID (Terrier) card, please see the Convenience Points Plan Information Screen
  • VCR to VCR dubbing station to make copies of your videos. (only non-copyrighted videos allowed, unless you have the publisher's permission). You'll need to reserve the dubbing room. Please call the MRC front desk at 617-353-4201. Everything else is used on a first come, first served basis.
  • DVD to DVD dubbing station to make copies of your DVDs
  • VCRs and headphones to watch your videos
  • 11 Dell Optiplex computers with DVD burners for student use (These are in addition to the computers in the computer lab link to above section about computer lab)
  • Paper cutters, electric 3-hole punch, high capacity staplers, etc.

Color Printing

Using an Epson Stylus Photo 1270 printer, we can print your color documents for you at $.50/page for plain paper, or $2-$3/page for photo quality paper, or at $1.00/page to print onto overhead transparencies.

Scanning

We will scan your documents for you at $1.00 a page, and pictures at the cost of $1.00/each. Further editing including Photoshop for image editing or OmniPage, OmniForm or Acrobat for text editing is available and charged at the rate of $16.00/hour.

Slide Imaging

Convert your PowerPoint show to 2x2 film slides. $3.00/slide. (Note that we require the file at least 2 days in advance of when you need the slides.)

Photography

Basic digital photography is available to enhance classroom and conference presentations. Color film may be taken here, but it is sent to an outside vendor for processing. A slide sorting tables is available to faculty, students, and staff. We also have a digital camera that is available for College use. Lucia Grochowska-Littlefield is a professional photographer with more than 20 years experience. ($25.00/hour, plus processing and materials charges)

Audiocassette and Videotape Dubbing

We also offer audio cassette and video tape dubbing services.
