Speech, Language and Hearing Center
The Boston University Speech, Language and Hearing Center provides a low cost alternative for speech and language evaluations and therapy in the Boston community. Comprehensive evaluations and/or therapy services are provided for individuals with communication difficulties including:
- Aphasia
- Articulation/phonology
- Oral and written language
- Organization and study skills
- Pragmatics (social skills training)
- Stuttering
- Voice
These services are provided by graduate students in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences who are closely supervised by a Boston University faculty member who is a licensed, certified speech-language pathologist.
Evaluations: Clients from toddlers through adults receive a comprehensive evaluation which includes, as appropriate, assessment of speech production as well as oral and written language skills. Clients also receive an extensive written report with detailed recommendations.
Treatment: Clients commit to weekly individual or group therapy sessions throughout the academic semester which runs for 10-12 weeks.
The Joseph Germono Fluency Clinic offers individual and group therapy sessions for individuals who stutter. The fluency group is held weekly and is one of the largest of its kind in the area.
The Aphasia Resource Center is associated with the BU Academic Speech, Language, and Hearing Center.
