Program Transfer Policies & Prerequisites for BU Students

The athletic training program accepts transfer students who meet the minimum requirement of a 2.0 overall GPA. With 6 semesters of required, sequential courses with clinical education components, the program of study cannot be completed in fewer than 3 years. Students who are seeking information regarding their transfer status and the time needed to complete the program are encouraged to speak with an academic advisor in the Academic Services Center or the program director.

Students who transfer into the program must be on track to graduate by May 2019.


Effective April 1, 2013, the accelerated, combined undergraduate/professional physical therapy programs (BS/DPT and AT/DPT) accept sophomore and junior transfer students (current BU students only) in the fall and spring semester on a space-available basis. Transfer students must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0. Transfer applications will be reviewed for consideration in the fall and spring semesters after final grades are available.

Students who transfer into the program must be on track to complete their bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training by September 2019.


The Behavior & Health program accepts transfer students in the fall and spring semesters. You must have a 2.0 grade point average to be considered for this program.

The Dietetics, Nutrition & Health, and Nutritional Science programs accept intra-university transfer students in the fall and spring semesters. Potential transfer students from within Boston University must have a 2.5 GPA to apply and should be aware that these programs may require an extra semester, summer session, or year beyond the customary four years. The Dietetics program is not available to transfer students from outside of BU, but the Nutrition & Health track and the Nutritional Science track both welcome external transfers.


The Health Science program accepts transfers during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. A minimum GPA, of 2.0 is required. Students who are interested in learning more about the Health Science program may visit the program office, Sargent College room 405, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. or email hscience@bu.edu. The Human Physiology program accepts transfer students in the fall and spring semesters and a GPA of 2.0 is required. Potential transfer students should be aware that this concentration may require an extra semester, summer session, or year beyond the customary four years.

The Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences program accepts transfer students in the fall and spring semesters. You must have a 2.0 grade point average to be considered for this program.


Students may not transfer into the BU Sargent College “Undeclared” program.
