Withdrawal/Leave of Absence

A student who withdraws or takes a leave of absence before the first day of classes is eligible to receive a full credit for tuition and fees. After the first day of classes, the student will have charges adjusted based on Boston University’s standard refund schedule. It is the students’ responsibility to inform BU Sargent College’s Graduate Financial Aid Office of their decision regarding withdrawal/leave of absence for tuition credit purposes, in addition to t he registrar’s requirements.

BU Sargent College follows a uniform policy for all graduate scholarship aid. Students who receive scholarship aid who withdraw during the semester are allowed to retain the same percentage of their aid as the percentage of tuition they are charged. A student who receives an 80% refund of tuition is allowed to retain 20% of their aid, 50% refund would allow retention of 50% of a student’s aid, 20% refund would allow 80% retention and 0% refund would allow 100% retention.
