Credit Information

All alternative loans other than Federal Ford Direct Loans are credit based and require a good credit rating of the student and co-applicant. If you would like to check your credit report for accuracy, you may request a complimentary copy from Experian, Equifax and Trans Union. It is important to check all three bureaus because there are differences in the information provided. Please submit your request for a credit report online or in writing to:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • Your full name, including middle initial.
  • Your current address, including zip code.
  • Any previous addresses, with zip codes (within the last five years).
  • Your social security number.
  • Your date of birth.
  • Spouse’s name and social security number, if married.
  • Two proofs of your current address (such as a photocopy of a current utility bill).

Another option for you to check your credit scores is to purchase a package from Fair Isaac Company. You would want the package that contains information from all three credit reporting bureaus and your FICO score.
