Transfer Program Policies and Prerequisites

Athletic Training

The Atletic Training program accepts transfer applications on a limited basis. Applicants for transfer must apply prior to junior year to complete the coursework and practical experience requirements for eligibility to take the National Athletic Trainer’s Association certification exam. Potential transfer students should be aware that this concentration may require an extra semester, summer session, or year beyond the customary four years.

Exercise Science

The Exercise Science program accepts transfer students in the fall and spring semesters. Potential transfer students should be aware that this concentration may require an extra semester, summer session, or year beyond the customary four years.

Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences

The Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences program accepts students in the fall and spring semesters. You must have a GPA of 2.5 or better to matriculate into this program.

Human Physiology

The Human Physiology program accepts transfer students in the fall and spring semesters. Potential transfer students should be aware that this concentration may require an extra semester, summer session, or year beyond the customary four years.

Dietetics & Nutritional Science

The Dietetic and Nutritional Science programs accept transfer students in the fall and spring semesters to both the nutritional science and the dietetics majors. Potential transfer students should be aware that this concentration may require an extra semester, summer session, or year beyond the customary four years.

Occupational Therapy

The Occupational Therapy program accepts sophomore and junior transfer students in the fall and spring semester. Students must apply prior to their junior year to complete course and practical experience requirements for certification. All materials must be submitted to Deborah Claar by April 1 so they can be reviewed by the department. You must have a 2.7 grade point average to be considered for this program. You also must have a 2.7 prerequisite grade point average.

You must earn a C+ or better in the prerequisite courses below:

  • CAS BI 106 Human Anatomy
  • CAS BI 211 Human Physiology
  • CAS PS 211 Experimental Design in Psychology
  • CAS PS 241 Developmental Psychology
  • CAS PS 251 Psychology of Personality
  • CAS PS 371 Abnormal Psychology or SAR RC 412 Intro to Abnormal Behavior
  • Including 16-20 credits distributed among at least three of the following divisions: humanities, mathematics, computer science, natural science, social sciences, languages, interdisciplinary studies. A total of 32 credits (for sophomores) or 60-64 credits (for juniors) of coursework must be completed, with a grade of C- or above in all courses. You must have a G.P.A. of 2.7 or better to matriculate into the sophomore or junior year of the program.

Physical Therapy

The Physical Therapy program accepts sophomore and junior transfer students in the fall and spring semester. Students must apply prior to their junior year to complete course and practical experience requirements for certification. All materials must be submitted to Deborah Claar by April 1 so they can be reviewed by the department. You must have a 3.0 grade point average overall to be considered for this program and a 3.0 grade point average in the prerequisite courses.

Undeclared Option

Students may not transfer into the BU Sargent College “undeclared” program.
