A Registered Dietitian is recognized as a food and nutrition expert in the United States. Many jobs in food and nutrition fields require this credential.

There are four criteria that must be met to become a Registered Dietitian:

  • You must earn a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at a U.S. regionally accredited university or college.
  • You must complete a series of courses required by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) known as the Didactic Program in Dietetics as part of an academic degree or by themselves. The Dietetics option at BU meets all of these requirements.
  • You must complete an accredited AND Dietetic Internship.
  • You must pass a national registration exam.
