The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Boston University College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College invites applications for the position of Department Chair. Applicants must have strong leadership and administrative skills, a distinguished record of teaching and scholarly achievement, record of funded research and a professional vision consistent with emerging and future healthcare practice to foster excellence in academic education, clinical practice, and scholarship in physical therapy, athletic training, and rehabilitation science. The Chair will be able to establish an additional faculty line to help achieve department goals. This is a full time tenured faculty position at the Associate/Professor level. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Department is part of a vibrant academic and research community that includes the College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College, Boston University Charles River and Medical campuses, and numerous educational and healthcare institutions of the metro Boston area. The Department offers several professional and post professional academic programs including a BS program in Athletic Training (AT), Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT, tDPT), accelerated AT/DPT and BS/DPT programs, and a ScD in Rehabilitation Sciences. Active research areas of the Department include health services and clinical epidemiology, movement sciences, and rehabilitation effectiveness. In addition, the Department houses the Boston University Physical Therapy Center and maintains close affiliation with the Athletic Enhancement Center and Athletic Training Services. BU Sargent College also offers professional and post professional degree programs in health science, nutrition, occupational therapy, rehabilitation science, and speech, language and hearing sciences. Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned post-professional doctoral degree, physical therapy professional degree and licensure preferred
- Demonstrated excellence in academic education and scholarship
- Strong leadership skills in academic administration/management
- Academic administrative/management experience in physical therapy preferred
